Men's and women's soccer earn United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The 2019-20 Albion College men's and women's soccer teams were recognized as Team Academic Award winners. In order to be eligible for this award, a team must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better.

In total, 889 squads (333 men, 556 women) earned the award for last academic year. This is the first time since 2017 that both the Albion men's and women's programs have received the award.

For the fifth consecutive year, the women's soccer team found themselves on the list with a 3.42 GPA. Under the direction of Eric Scott, the squad finished 2019 with a 8-7-2 record, falling in the MIAA Tournament Semifinal. 16 players on the roster were named to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll.

The men's soccer team earns the award for the first time since 2017, finishing with a 3.23 GPA. After finishing with a 7-10-2 overall record, the squad dropped its final match of the year in the MIAA Tournament Semifinal. The team saw 11 athletes named to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll.

Both teams look ahead to the spring for their season to begin.
