Albion gains No. 5 seed for MIAA Men's Soccer Tournament

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Dillon Weldy scored in the third minute and Aguma Muhumuza tacked on an insurance goal in the 86th minute to lift Calvin University to a 2-0 victory over Albion College in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association men's soccer action.

Albion finished the regular season 7-9-1 overall and 2-5 in MIAA matches. The Britons will travel to Adrian College on Saturday for a 7 p.m. kickoff in a MIAA Tournament first round match.

Albion generated five shots on goal in the match. Alex Sayeg had three and Micah Cross had the other two.

Joe and Julie Serra have given a $5 million leadership gift to launch a fundraising initiative to make two dreams a reality. The first is a newly expanded fitness and student activity facility at the site of the current Dow Recreation and Wellness Center. The second is a new or renovated facility for the volleyball, men's basketball and women's basketball teams that currently call Kresge Gymnasium home.
