ALBION, Mich. – North Park University showed why it has been picked to win its third consecutive championship in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin Wednesday night, handing Albion College an 8-0 setback at Alumni Field.

North Park controlled possession 64 percent of the match.

Despite the advantage in possession, Albion goalkeeper Maximilian Loria made four saves to hold North Park to only one goal in the first half. Gianfranco DeCarne scored in the 43rd minute.

Albion had its best scoring chance with time winding down in the first half. Stefan Isaevski maintained possession in the box and got a pair of shots off. One of the shots was blocked, the other saved by the goalkeeper.

Alex Sayeg also took a couple of shots for Albion, but neither was on goal.

Peder Olsen scored four times in the second half for North Park.

Albion will continue its homestand Saturday morning when the side from the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology visits Alumni Field for an 11 a.m. kickoff.

Joe and Julie Serra have given a $5 million leadership gift to launch a fundraising initiative to make two dreams a reality. The first is a newly expanded fitness and student activity facility at the site of the current Dow Recreation and Wellness Center. The second is a new or renovated facility for the volleyball, men's basketball and women's basketball teams that currently call Kresge Gymnasium home.

The College is continuing to raise funds in support of both projects. To learn more, call 517/629-0446 or email advancement@albion.edu.
