Men's Soccer keeps MIAA Tournament hopes alive

OLIVET, Mich. – Albion College gained a 3-2 victory over Olivet College to keep its hopes of a berth in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Men's Soccer Tournament alive.

Albion, now 1-3-2 against MIAA rivals for five points in the standings, holds a one-point lead over Kalamazoo College (1-4-1) in the race for the final spot in the tournament. Albion finishes the regular season with a 7 p.m. Tuesday home match against Calvin College. Kalamazoo finishes with a home date with Olivet on Tuesday.

Down 2-0 midway through the first half, Moses Jatta gave Albion life with his first collegiate goal.

Will Colborn (59th minute) and Erik Vanfossen (75th minute) scored for Albion in the second half.

Olivet had three chances to score the equalizer. One shot hit the post, another was blocked by the defense and the third sailed wide of the net.

Albion goalkeeper Chris Wallace made one save in the second half to gain credit for the victory.
