Men's Soccer falls to MIAA rival on the road

ADRIAN, Mich. – Surrendering a penalty kick goal in the third minute, Albion College faced an uphill climb all night and it walked off Kapnick Field with a 2-0 loss to Adrian College in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association men's soccer action.

Adrian drew the foul when a forward ran through an Albion defender attempting to clear. Dolan Bonkowski converted the penalty kick to give Adrian the only goal it would need.

Adrian tacked on an insurance goal when Dayton Rush pounced on a turnover to create a one-on-one situation against Albion goalkeeper Maximilian Loria.

Albion's best scoring opportunity came in the 31st minute when Jason Warras got behind the defense for a one-on-one chance against Adrian goalkeeper Spencer Brown. Brown was presented with a yellow card for taking Warras to the turf. Warras was ruled too far from the ball for the play to be considered a breakaway.

Albion was credited with 13 shots in the contest, but Will Colborn and Alex Spratte were the only ones to attempts on frame.

Albion, 5-5-2 overall and 0-3 against MIAA rivals, returns home Saturday for a 5 o'clock kickoff against Hope College.
