Men's Soccer falls to MIAA rival in double overtime

ALMA, Mich. – Albion College Head Coach Wytse Molenaar said his team deserved a better fate Saturday.

Despite holding a 19-6 advantage in shots, Albion walked off the pitch at Scotland Yard with a 2-1 loss in double overtime to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rival Alma College.

Will Colborn scored the Albion goal in the 27th minute. Alex Spratte set Colborn up for his fifth goal of the season.

Colborn generated most of the Albion offense in the match with four shots, including three on goal.

Alma countered nine minutes later as Sam Swem scored the equalizer.

Noah Canlas scored the game-winner with a little more than two minutes left in the second overtime period.

Albion, 5-4-2 overall and 0-2 against MIAA rivals, travels to Adrian College for a Tuesday MIAA match at 7 p.m.
