Men's Soccer completes California trip

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. – The Albion College men's soccer team absorbed its first loss of the season on Sunday.

Completing a three-day trip to the west coast, UC-Santa Cruz scored twice in the second half to defeat Albion, 2-0, in a non-league match.

Dakota Clapper and Will Colborn produced scoring chances for Albion in the first half as each placed a shot on goal.

The Banana Slugs got the first goal 13 seconds into the second half. Jacob Myers Norys was one-on-one against Albion goalkeeper Maximilian Loria after receiving a pass from Cole Fox.

Albion picked up the intensity as it tried to score the equalizer. However, Keith McCarty tacked on another goal for UCSC in the 79th minute.

Both teams took ten shots in the game, with the Banana Slugs having the slight edge on shots on goal (6-4).

Albion, now 2-1-2 against non-league rivals, will travel to Ohio on Friday for a match against Wittenberg University.
