Men's Soccer bounces back for draw

ALBION, Mich. – Down 2-0 midway through the first half, most soccer teams would be pleased to come away with a draw.

Albion College, however, came away empty on some scoring chances and it settled for a 2-2 draw with a talented Wheaton (Ill.) College side at the Davis Athletic Complex Tuesday night.

Peter Whallon and AJ Moyes scored for Wheaton as the visitors surged to a 2-0 lead in the 23rd minute.

Albion increased its work rate late in the first half and first-year midfielder Alex Spratte finished a scramble for the ball in front of the goal with 12 seconds remaining in the first half. Moses Jatta was credited with the assist on the play.

Spratte tacked on the equalizer less than three minutes into the second half, pouncing on a rebound.

Christian Hurtado had his shot to win the match turned away by Wheaton goalkeeper Hasten Biddlecome in the 102nd minute.

Biddlecome collected six saves as Wheaton moves to 1-0-1 on the young season.

Albion goalkeeper Maximilian Loria stopped two shots as the Britons are 2-0-1.

Albion will travel to the west coast for weekend matches against Willamette (Ore.) University and the University of California-Santa Cruz.
