Britons Hang On For Men's Soccer Win

ADRIAN, Mich. – Gabe Martinez and Erik Vanfossen scored the goals as Albion College earned a 2-1 victory over Adrian College in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association men's soccer action.

Justin Kraft, who collected eight saves in the contest, fell about 100 seconds shy of his second shutout of a league rival this season. Mark Proctor finished a crossing pass late in the contest for the Adrian goal.

Martinez produced his second goal of the season when  his kick from the top of the box sailed into the top right corner of the goal midway through the first half.

Albion struck early in the second half on Vanfossen's third goal of the season. Bobby Budlong assisted on the play.

Adrian finished with a 17-12 edge in shots, including 9-6 in shots on goal. Kyle Bourlier, Martinez and Vanfossen produced the shots on goal for Albion.

Albion returns home Saturday to square off against Alma College. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. at the Davis Athletic Complex.
