HOLLAND, Mich. – Albion College has advanced to the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Men's Lacrosse Tournament final every time in the event's seven-year history.
The Britons further added another memorable moment Saturday by playing in the lowest scoring tournament contest ever.
Unfortunately, the result didn't go Albion's way in a 6-5 loss to Hope College.
The Flying Dutchmen scored three times in the fourth quarter, including Brayden Blackburn's winning goal with four minutes to play.
Albion led 4-2 when Alec Palmer and Scott Shepard scored early in the third quarter.
Rocco Mularoni scored with 5 ½ minutes left in the third and Luke Elder scored with 12 ½ minutes left in regulation as Hope forged a 4-4 tie.
Mularoni scored his second goal of the night to put Hope in front, 5-4, with 10 minutes left.
Shepard scored the equalizer on a man-advantage goal with 4:10 left.
Albion had an extra-man opportunity with 1:05 left to get the tying goal, but the Britons only got one shot and that was wide of the goal.
Trevor McManus, the Albion goalkeeper, collected 19 saves.

Joe and Julie Serra have given a $5 million leadership gift to launch a fundraising initiative to make two dreams a reality at Albion College. The first is a newly expanded fitness and student activity facility at the site of the current Dow Recreation and Wellness Center. The second is a new or renovated competition facility for the volleyball, men's basketball and women's basketball that currently call Kresge Gymnasium home.
