Britons dropped in overtime

LEXINGTON, Ky. – Bryce Lowe scored 45 seconds into the second overtime period lifting Transylvania University to a 9-8 victory over Albion College in non-league men's lacrosse action Wednesday night.

Albion forged the 8-8 tie on Jacob Swift's extra man goal with two minutes left in regulation.

Albion had another extra man opportunity late in the first overtime period. Scott Shepard left a shot wide and another hit the post and Chase Palmer sent his shot wide.

Transylvania won the faceoff 76 percent of the time (16-of-21), including the one to start both overtime periods. The Pioneers took the ball for the second overtime period on a faceoff violation and Corbyn Buchart got the ball to Lowe for the winning score.

Alec Palmer, Gerald Haadsma and Jacob Swift scored in the first quarter as Albion sprinted out to a 3-0 lead.

Albion surrendered the momentum as Lowe scored twice in the first 90 seconds of the second quarter.

The Britons recovered as Jace Conley scored his fourth goal of the season and he assisted on Alec Palmer's goal to lead 5-2 with 4 ½ minutes left in the second quarter.

Lowe again provided the answer for Transylvania, scoring with three seconds left in the quarter as the Pioneers closed the deficit to 5-3.

Sheymus Maloney scored the Transylvania goals in the third quarter to even the score at 5-5 and the teams traded goals from there.

Conley led Albion's scoring with three goals and an assist, while Alec Palmer generated two goals and two assists.

Albion will complete its spring break road trip with a Saturday date at the College of Wooster.
