Trevor McManus, the sophomore goalkeeper for the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Tournament champion men's lacrosse team from Albion College, was honored as an honorable mention all-region pick by the Intercollegiate Men's Lacrosse Coaches Association.
It took McManus, a Plymouth High School product, a month to recover from an illness, but once he was back on the field, he solidified an Albion defense that was among the best in the MIAA.
Despite playing four contests without McManus in front of the goal, the Britons still finished 40th among NCAA Division III teams in scoring defense.
In 14 contests during the 2018 campaign, McManus stopped nearly 61 percent of the shots he faced and compiled a 7.63 goals against average.
He was especially good in a March non-league overtime victory over Otterbein, collecting 25 saves.
"Trevor anchored our defense, and without his work in between the pipes we would not have had as much success as we did," Albion Head Coach Jake DeCola said. "He is a guy that we took a lot of risks in front of, and he really came through for us quite a bit. We are looking forward to bringing him back as a junior, and hope to sure things up in front of him a bit which we hope will help him have continued success."
