Defender adds awards to complete his career

Dave Brown, a May graduate of Albion College who was a four-year letter winner on defense for the Briton men's lacrosse team, received a pair of awards recently.

The economics and management major who was a member of the college's Carl A. Gerstacker Institute for Business and Management was named a Scholar All-American by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association and a second team all-region performer by the Intercollegiate Men's Lacrosse Coaches Association.

The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association's Most Valuable Player on defense, Brown anchored a unit that allowed eight goals per contest on average. The Milford, Mich., and Lakeland High School product finished the season with 23 ground balls and was responsible for causing 15 turnovers.

Brown becomes the fourth Scholar All-American in the history of the Albion men's lacrosse program, following Joe Silvestri (2014), Dylan Neal (2016) and Zach Hubbell (2017).

"Dave is a great representative of our lacrosse program, and these honors really show that to be true," Albion Head Coach Jake DeCola said. "He is hardworking and was committed to excellence both in the classroom and on the field while he was with us. These awards are meaningful, and I think is great that Dave was honored for both his academic efforts and his prowess on the field. He will be missed for certain."
