Albion draws New England College in NCAA Championship

Four-time Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Tournament champion Albion College has drawn New England College as its opponent for a first round game in the NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Championship.

The Britons, one of 25 automatic qualifiers in the 36-team NCAA field, will meet the Pilgrims on Tuesday in Rochester, N.Y. The survivor of the game moves on to a second round game against the Rochester Institute of Technology on Wednesday.

Details about the contest will be available on Monday.

Albion will be making its fourth appearance in the NCAA Championship field. The Britons were among the final 16 teams standing in the 2015 tournament, and they lost first round games in 2016 and 2017.

Albion (10-7 overall) gained the MIAA's automatic bid to the 2018 field with an 11-8 victory over Hope College in the MIAA Tournament championship game.

New England College (15-4 overall) defeated Castleton 12-7 on Saturday to clinch its third-straight North Atlantic Conference championship. It will be the Pilgrams seventh NCAA Championship appearance following trips in 2000, 2002, 2012, 2014, 2016, and 2017.

It will be the first meeting between Albion and New England College in men's lacrosse.
