Men's Lacrosse holds off Trine

ANGOLA, Ind. – Scott Shepard and Paul Lewis scored late in the third quarter and defender Brian Griffiths played one of the best games of his career to lift the Britons to a 6-5 victory in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association men's lacrosse contest.

Shepard, Thomas Hernandez, Alec Palmer and Aaron McCann scored as Albion soared to a 4-0 lead three minutes into the second quarter.

Neil Orr scored twice and Jordan Lelito added a goal and assist as Trine rallied to gain a 5-4 lead with 7:48 left in the third.

Shepard scored with two minutes left in the third and Lewis tacked on the game winner with the clock winding down in the quarter.

Albion goalkeeper Trevor McManus made three saves to shutout Trine in the fourth quarter.

"Brian held their best player scoreless, and had one of the best games of his career," Albion Coach Jake DeCola said. "Coming off missing last week due to injury showed some real toughness."

Albion, winners of two in a row to improve to 4-6 overall and 2-0 against MIAA rivals, travels to Alma College on Saturday.
