Men's Lacrosse wins MIAA opener

ALBION, Mich. – Alec Palmer produced three goals and an assist and Trevor McManus stopped 13 of the 15 shots he faced as Albion College started Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association men's lacrosse action with a 12-3 victory over Calvin College on a cold Saturday evening at the Davis Athletic Complex.

Albion dominated the contest, finishing with a 45-24 edge in shots.

The Britons never trailed as Scott Shepard and Paul Lewis found the net in the first quarter and David DiRado tacked on a score in the second quarter as Albion jumped out to a 3-0 lead.

After a Calvin goal by Noah Boelens, Albion scored the next nine to go up 12-1. Tyler Vliek scored his first collegiate goal and Kyle DeCamp produced his first goal of the season.

Boelens and Michael Winkler scored goals for Calvin to complete the scoring for the night.

Albion (3-6 overall) travels to Angola, Ind., on Tuesday for a 7 p.m. MIAA game at Trine University.
