Britons complete first round of Irish Hills Invitational

JACKSON, Mich. – Soti Michalos and John Slivka produced rounds of 82 and Justin Kapke added a score of 84 as the Albion College men's golf team finished the first round of the Irish Hills Invitational with a 335 team score.

The Britons are tied for 10th out of 12 teams in the tournament. Kenyon College turned in the low score of the day at 299. The Lords hold the lead over Trine University (304), Ohio Wesleyan University (307), Kalamazoo College (309), Mount Saint Joseph University (312), Adrian College (321), Earlham College (324) and Calvin University (327).

Jack Welke shot an 87 for Albion's fourth score in the Friday round.

Joe and Julie Serra have given a $5 million leadership gift to launch a fundraising initiative to make two dreams a reality. The first is a newly expanded fitness and student activity facility at the site of the current Dow Recreation and Wellness Center. The second is a new or renovated facility for the volleyball, men's basketball and women's basketball teams that currently call Kresge Gymnasium home.
