Men's Golf shoots lowest total since 2010

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. – The Albion College men's golf team is celebrating its lowest round since 2010, and it couldn't have picked a better time.

Led by Soti Michalos with a career-best 71, Albion finished with a 297 total in the first Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Jamboree of the season. The round was played at the Bedford Valley Country Club.

Jack Welke (78) and Dillon French (80) also posted their collegiate best scores.

Justin Kapke and Patrick Kelly produced rounds of 74 for the Britons.

"The team did a great job of staying away from big numbers, meaning, nothing worse than bogey<" Coach Jordan McArleton said. "They smartly managed their way around a difficult golf course, and that made all the difference. It allowed our birdies to be more meaningful. It was a well executed day."

Albion finished fourth in the team standings behind Hope College (286), Calvin College (292) and Trine University (294). Adrian College and Kalamazoo College finished a stroke behind the Britons.

The Britons will head to The Grande in Jackson, Mich., for Friday and Saturday rounds in an invitational hosted by Adrian College.
