Kapke, Hinkle Pace Men's Golf Team In Kalamazoo

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Justin Kapke and Jake Hinkle produced rounds in the 70s to lead Albion College to a fifth place finish in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association men's golf jamboree at the Kalamazoo Country Club.

Kapke, a first-year student from Canton, Mich., finished 12th among individuals with a 6-over par 77. Bidding to become Albion's first all-MIAA first team award winner since 2011, Kapke boasts a 73.25-stroke average through four jamborees.

Hinkle, a junior from Grayling, Mich., achieved a season-best with an 8-over par 79.

Justin Leeds (81) and Soti Michalos (87) contributed to Albion's 324 total.

The top four teams were Calvin College (299), Hope College (300), Trine University (310) and Kalamazoo College (321).

MIAA teams will gather in Battle Creek Oct. 13 and 14 for the league's fall finale.
