First-Year Golfer Scores Another Top Ten Finish

ALMA, Mich. – Justin Kapke turned in another top 10 finish in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association men's golf action.

Playing in the MIAA's second jamboree on Saturday, the Albion College first-year golfer who prepped at Plymouth High School tied for ninth with a 1-over 73 at the Pine River Country Club.

The medalist of the first jamboree, Kapke boasts a 71-stroke average in his first two league rounds.

Albion finished fifth on the day with a 307 total. Jim Chapman and Soti Michalos produced scores of 77 and Jake Hinkle added a round of 80.

Albion is sixth in the MIAA after two jamborees. Calvin College, which turned in the low round Saturday at 287, is the leader at 578. The rest of the standings are as follows: Hope College (583), Kalamazoo College (601), Adrian College (608), Trine University (613), Albion (617), Olivet College (627) and Alma College (680).

The third MIAA Jamboree of the season is Monday at the Wuskowhan Players Club in West Olive, Mich.
