Davis, Ebeling represent Albion on all-MIAA first team

Jamezell Davis, Jr. and Caden Ebeling represent Albion College as first team picks as the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association announced its all-league selections on the eve of first round tournament games to be played on Wednesday.

Davis, a sophomore guard from Ypsilanti, Mich., averaged 12 ½ points and 3.7 assists in 11 games against MIAA rivals. He had a flair for the dramatic, hitting a 3-point basket with one second remaining to lift Albion to a 65-62 victory at Kalamazoo College on Feb. 6.

He scored in double figures in nine of the 11 MIAA games with a high of 19 in road victories over Adrian College and Kalamazoo.

Ebeling, a junior from Shelby Township, Mich., who prepped at Utica High School, led the MIAA at nearly nine rebounds per game. Playing in all 14 MIAA games, he averaged 14.6 points while shooting 58 percent from the floor and 77 percent from the free throw line.

He also had a flair for the dramatic, tipping in a missed layup as time expired as Albion escaped with a 75-73 victory at Alma College on Jan. 9.

One of his best performances of the season came Jan. 16 when he produced 16 points and 18 rebounds in the home game against Trine University. He also scored 25 in games at Alma and Olivet College and 22 in the home game against Calvin College.

Albion posted a 10-4 record against MIAA rivals and secured the No. 2 seed for the MIAA Tournament. The Britons await the survivor of the Wednesday night first round game between Alma and Olivet for a semifinal round game at 1 p.m. Friday in Angola, Ind.
