Britons bounced on the road

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – Calvin College outscored Albion College 14-4 over the final 4:40 to pull away for a 76-65 victory in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association men's basketball action at Van Noord Arena Wednesday night.

Albion faced an uphill climb nearly all night. The Britons trailed by as many as 15 in the first half.

Jamezell Davis, Jr. scored seven points and Quinton Armstrong and Caden Ebeling added baskets in the frontcourt as Albion ripped off an 11-0 run to lead 55-54 midway through the second half.

Albion extended the margin to 57-54 on another Davis basket.

Calvin forged a tie at 57 when Alex Bos scored from 3-point range.

Albion trailed 62-61 on a basket by Jaylin Fordham with six minutes left.

Derrick DeVries scored eight points late as Calvin pulled away down the stretch. He finished with 21 points, six rebounds and five assists.

Box added 16 and Carlos Amoros-Gutierrez and Jason Walter 11 for the Knights.

Armstrong led Albion with 16 points off the bench. Davis led the starters with 14 points and Ebeling finished with 13 points and eight rebounds.

Albion, 16-7 overall and 9-3 in the MIAA, will complete the regular season with a 3 p.m. Saturday home game against Hope College.
