First-year guard sets career scoring high

ALBION, Mich. – Five players scored as Adrian College went on a 13-1 run to gain the lead for good I the second half as it escaped Kresge Gymnasium with a 72-65 victory over Albion College in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association men's basketball action.

The game featured 12 lead changes until Adrian seized control of the game.

Albion led 40-39 when Quay Burks hit the first of two free throw shots with 16 minutes to play.

Adrian rallied to forge a 52-41 lead when Justin Webster hit a pair from the line with 10 ½ minutes left.

Jamezell Davis, Jr. hit a three-point basket and three free throws to pull the Britons within three, 58-55, with six minutes to play, but Adrian was able to repel the Britons anytime it got close.

Davis hit 6-of-10 shots from the field to finish with 17 points for his first career game in double figures.

Fordham added 15 points and Burks chipped in with 13 for the Britons.

Justin Webster led all players with 32 points for the Adrian squad that has won eight in a row to improve to 11-2 overall and 2-0 against MIAA rivals.

Albion (3-10 overall, 0-2 MIAA) plays at home against at 7:30 Wednesday night against Alma College.
