Western riders off to impressive start

SAGINAW, Mich. – Alex Carducci won events in the morning and afternoon as the Albion College western equestrian team was the reserve champion in both sessions of a season-opening show hosted by Saginaw Valley State University.

Carducci was first in reining in the morning and open horsemanship in the afternoon. She finished as the individual reserve champion of both shows.

Makenna Ware got Albion off to a fast start in the morning session, taking first place in open horsemanship.

Also in the morning session for the Britons, Megan McFadden was first in intermediate horsemanship, Elliot Brinker and Leah Schwartzenberger were third in novice, Michelle O'Dell was first in her section of Novice, and Carducci and Marty Cash were second and third, respectively, in open horsemanship.

Michelle O'Dell finished the afternoon show with a runner-up ribbon in novice horsemanship. Nikita Mehaney added second place advanced horsemanship, Griselda Iñiguez was third in walk-trot, and Madeline Prall and Gabriela Trinidad were the top two riders in intermediate I.
