CORUNNA, Mich. – Michelle O'Dell and Leah Schwartzenberger led the first-ever appearance by the Albion College stock seat riders in the varsity athletic program with solid performances in the intermediate division during the Oct. 7-8 Saginaw Valley State University quadruple header.

O'Dell, a sophomore from Mount Morris, Mich., achieved first and second place in her section of intermediate horsemanship and first-year rider Schwartzenberger, from Dexter, followed suit in her own section of intermediate horsemanship.

Sophomore rider Sydney Walker then set the tone for the beginner group when she punched her ticket to regionals with her win in beginner horsemanship. Close behind were first-year beginners Gabriela Trinidad-Mejia with a win and Austin Armstrong with a second place finish.

Other notable performances came from senior Brooke Viele with a second place finish in open horsemanship and first-year riders Rebecca Rychener in intermediate horsemanship and Makenna Ware in advanced horsemanship.

The Briton stock seat riders will have a couple of weeks off before they travel to the Grand Valley State University doubleheader on Nov. 4.
