At the conclusion of Intercollegiate Horse Show Association's hunt seat competition on Oct. 22 afternoon – the first half of a double-header hosted by Grand Valley State University at Kentree Stables – two riders were tied for the individual high-point title. The winner would be determined by a head-to-head ride-off.

It was Briton versus Briton.

In the end, senior team co-captain Cayla Dupuis edged out junior Marjori Boldt for the title, capping a day that also saw the Albion team finish reserve champion of the 12 teams competing.

Also contributing to the Britons' strong finish were sophomore Sadie Wayman, who won her section of novice fences and punched her ticket to Regionals in the process, junior Ashley Butler, who won her section of novice flat, and senior Megan Brown, who won in the advanced walk-trot-canter division and will join Wayman at regionals as a result.

Second place finishes from Megan Reilly, Jessica Derlis, and Jessica Imel also boosted the Briton score.

Albion netted a fifth place team finish in the second half of the competition on Oct. 23, led once more by wins by Dupuis and Butler in open and novice flat and by the second place finishes of Wayman and freshman Sydney Rudowski in intermediate and novice flat. Sophomore Felicia Soto also scored enough points to qualify for regionals in intermediate flat.

The Britons return to competition Nov. 19-20 at Michigan State University.
