Two Albion riders were among the top regional contenders to compete at the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association Zone Finals on April 2. The competition was hosted by Albion's home region at Willowbrooke Farm in Plymouth, which was also where a trailer full of Albion horses unloaded to join the ranks of mounts in the draw.
Junior Sienna Mendina, a third-year IHSA Zone Finals veteran, rode to a sixth place finish in the Open Over Fences division. Teammate and sophomore Megan Winkler came away with a fifth place in the Walk-Trot division.
Also worth mentioning are the equine athletes that helped make the Zone Finals a success. Out of the three Albion horses that were used in the draw, each one of them helped win their riders spots at the IHSA Nationals. Many additional Albion hunt seat team members volunteered to help prepare, school, and care for the horses, as well as to cheer on Mendina and Winkler as they rode.
The Zone Finals concludes another successful season for the Albion hunt seat team.
