Newly-minted Open Over Fences division champion Sienna Mendina will represent the Albion College hunt seat team at the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association Zone Final show on April 2. The junior secured her win at IHSA Regionals on March 19.
Joining Mendina at the Zone Finals will be sophomore Megan Winkler, who finished her season with a reserve championship at the IHSA Regional show in the Walk-Trot division. Both riders hope that the advantage of competing on familiar turf at Willowbrooke Farm, home of the University of Michigan hunt seat team and a frequent host to shows in Albion's home region, will give them an edge to punch their tickets to the IHSA National Championship show at the Kentucky Horse Park in May.
Also competing at the IHSA Regional Show on March 19 were hunt seat team captain Claire Tillman, who capped her undergraduate riding career with a strong fourth place finish in the Intermediate division on the flat, and Sadie Wayman, a freshman who made her first Regionals appearance in the Novice division and netted sixth place in her flat class.
