Riders Complete Season In The Zone Finals

Out of the 13 schools represented at the Regional Championships, Albion College had the most individual riders qualified to compete at the Zone 6 Finals. Five Albion riders traveled with Coach Randi Gardner to Morehead State University in Kentucky to compete at Zones on March 28.

After Zone Finals, the top two riders in each division are eligible to go on to compete at Intercollegiate Horse Show Association Nationals. Though no Albion competitors qualified for Nationals this year, they were certainly close. Here is how the Albion riders placed:

Sienna Mendina:  4th place – Intermediate fences
Cayla Dupuis:  6th place – Novice fences
Claire Tillman:  6th place – Novice fences
Megan Reilly:  5th place – Walk/Trot/Canter
Megan Brown:  3rd place – Walk/Trot

This competition capped a very challenging yet successful season for the hunt seat team. Being quite a young team this year and unable to host a home meet due to construction at the Held Equestrian Center, they figured it would be a rebuilding year. Coming in third place in the Region team standings and having five riders go onto Zones were celebrated victories. They are looking forward to next season with enthusiasm!
