Albion baseball splits doubleheader with Anderson

The Albion baseball team got back to its winning ways Tuesday afternoon in Anderson, Ind., splitting a doubleheader with Anderson University, losing the first game 5-0 and winning the second 12-7.

The Britons, who started the season red hot, scoring 60 runs in their first five games, hit a rough patch offensively, managing just two runs and 13 hits over their next three games, including the shutout loss Tuesday to Anderson where the Britons managed just five hits.

But the bats came back to life in the second game as Albion banged out 13 hits and used a five-run seventh inning to take control.

Sophomore Sean Haddlesey led the way with two hits and three RBI and senior Riley Stesiak added two hits, two runs scored and two RBI. As well, freshman Alex Ochoa produced three hits, three runs scored and an RBI; sophomore Justin Charron hit a two-run double; junior Kellan Huang knocked in two runs and juniors Dylan Perry and Alex Cull each scored twice.

Huang was also the starting pitcher and notched his first win of the season, allowing three runs and six hits while walking one and striking out rhree. Sophomores Matthew Althoff and Nathan Goodsell provided solid relief

Now 6-3, Albion returns to action Saturday when it travels to Ohio for a doubleheader against Bluffton University.
