Baseball Britons fall in regular season finale

ADA, Ohio – Ohio Northern University defeated Albion College, 3-2, in the regular season finale for both baseball teams Monday afternoon.

Devin Johnson, the Ohio Northern starting pitcher, retired Albion's first seven batters. Charlie Pasco hit a one out single in the third, but he was erased when he was caught in a rundown.

Trailing 1-0 in the fourth, Albion leveled the score on consecutive singles by Drew Olszewski, Kellan Huang and Justin Charron. The Britons took a 2-1 lead when Matt Bur hit a one out single to send Huang in to score.

Albion went on to load the bases when Riley Stesiak singled to left field. The Britons were not able to hit the ball out of the infield as Charron was thrown out at home when Pasco hit a groundball to third base and Jordyn Finney popped up to third base.

A pair of Albion errors helped Ohio Northern score twice in the bottom of the fourth and neother team scored the rest of the way.

Albion finished with 11 hits, compared to five for Ohio Northern. Bur and Finney finished with two hits apiece.

Albion (22-18) will travel to Hope College for a 4 p.m. Wednesday game in the first round of the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Tournament. After the Wednesday game, the remainder of the tournament will shift to Nicolay Field at Adrian College.
