Albion inches closer to MIAA Baseball Tournament berth

ALBION, Mich. – Albion College inched closer to earning its place in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Baseball Tournament when it split a doubleheader with 13th-ranked Adrian College at Champions Stadium.

Game One: Albion 3, Adrian 1

Mitch Shedlowsky (5-2) was dominant, allowing four hits and a walk in a complete game performance.

Adrian scored its run in the first. Thomas Miller and Gunner Rainey hit consecutive singles with one out, and Miller scored when Brady Wood send a groundball that went between the legs of Albion third baseman Drew Olszewski.

Olszewski bounced back when the next batter sent a groundball to him to start a double play to end the inning.

Shedlowsky kept Adrian from getting a runner past second base the rest of the game.

He struck out seven, falling two short of matching his season high.

Justin Charron hit a pair of doubles, including one in the third for the game-winning RBI when Kellan Huang scored.

Joe Turnbull's double in the sixth sent Jordyn Finney home with an insurance run.

Game Two: Adrian 12, Albion 0

Charron collected two of Albion's three hits.

Briton relievers Connor Ziparo, Cole Thune and Kevin Korte were not charged with allowing a run.
