ALMA, Mich. – Albion College had to settle for a split of its Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association baseball series with Alma College.
The offense sputtered as the Britons hit .238.
Outfielder Luke Bottlomey led the way with four hits in six at bats. Matt Bur, Kellan Huang and Drew Olszewski added two hits apiece.
Game One: Alma 10, Albion 1
It was scoreless after two innings, but Alma erupted for five runs in the third and four more in the fourth.
The Alma lineup was balanced with seven batters collecting a run batted in.
Bottomley had two hits and he scored Albon's run in the seventh.
Game Two: Alma 12, Albion 6
Bur's sacrifice fly scored Bottomley in the first, and that was Albion's only lead of the day.
Alma forged a 1-1 tie in the second and it scored twice in the third to seize the lead for good. The Scots scored four times in the fifth and sixth innings.
Bur hit a homerun – his second of the season – in the eighth inning. It was a two-run shot.

Albion, 10-8 overall and 5-3 in MIAA games, begins a four-game MIAA series with Calvin College with a 2 o'clock home doubleheader on Friday.

Joe and Julie Serra have given a $5 million leadership gift to launch a fundraising initiative to make two dreams a reality at Albion College. The first is a newly expanded fitness and student activity facility at the site of the current Dow Recreation and Wellness Center. The second is a new or renovated competition facility for the volleyball, men's basketball and women's basketball that currently call Kresge Gymnasium home.
