Briton bats break out in victory over Illinois College

KISSIMMEE, Fla. – Kellan Huang drove in a career-high four runs and pitcher Mitch Shedlowsky allowed one run on three hits over seven innings to power Albion College to an 11-2 victory over Illinois College in spring break baseball action on Thursday.

A sophomore second baseman who prepped at Saline High School, Huang blasted three-run homerun in the third. It was Huang's first homerun of the season and the third of his career.

Shedlowsky (1-1), a senior from Waterford, Mich., retired the first six Illinois College batters in order. He worked around an error to the leadoff batter in the third and did not allow a hit until Cade Hennemann produced a single with one out in the fourth. Shedlowsky allowed a run on three hits while striking out six.

Relievers Connor Ziparo and Colton Wiskur each pitched an inning. Wiskur retired the Illinois College batters in order in the ninth, inducing three groundouts.

Albion led the entire game, scoring twice in the first as Andrew Arszulowicz drew a bases loaded walk and Huang hit a RBI single.

Jordyn Finney tacked on a RBI double in the fourth and Drew Olszewski drove in two runs with a single and Riley Stesiak hit a RBI double in the fifth.

Albion added an insurance run in the ninth when Justin Charron and Arszulowicz slugged back-to-back doubles.

Stesiak, Albion's leadoff hitter, went 2-for-3 with a walk, two doubles and two runs scored. Jordyn Finney, the cleanup hitter, also went 2-for-3 with a walk. Arszulowicz went 1-for-3 with two walks.
