Baseball Britons drop opening games with Hope

HOLLAND, Mich. – Matt Bur slugged two doubles in game one and Andrew Arszulowicz hit two singles and drove in a run for Albion College in 17-0 and 9-2 losses in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association doubleheader at Hope College on Thursday.

Game One

Albon had an opportunity to score first when Bur hit a two-out double in the second. Bur was stranded and Hope responded by scoring three runs in its half of the inning.

Hope put the game out of reach when it scored 13 times in the fifth inning.

Paul Baur also delivered a pinch-hit single for the Britons.

Game Two

Albion tied the score at 1-1 on Jordyn Finney's sacrifice fly to score Cameron Doornweerd in the second.

The score remained 1-1 until the fifth when Hope scored four times. The Flying Dutchmen added four more runs in the eighth.

Arszulowicz hit his RBI single in the seventh.

On Deck

Albion and Hope are scheduled to complete the series with a 2 p.m Friday doubleheader at Champions Stadium.
