Baseball Britons begin busy stretch

ALBION, Mich. – Jack Wyman slugged a pair of extra-base hits in Albion College's 18-1 and 11-4 losses to Adrian College in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association baseball doubleheader on a sunny Sunday afternoon at Champions Stadium.

Wyman tripled to the fence in right-center with two out in the first inning of game one. He scored Albion's only run of the game when the next batter, James Spilko hit a single to center field.

Adrian's leadoff batter, Zach Zschering, was hit by pitch three times and he drew a walk to score four times without collecting a hit in the game. Left fielder Gunner Rainey hit four singles and drove in three runs.

Riley Stesiak and Wyman combined for two hits each – Albion finished with five as a team – game two. Dylan Perry and Joe Turnbull drove in runs for the Britons.

Rainey collected four more hits for Adrian and Brady Wood also finished with four hits.

Albion (7-23 overall and 5-13 in games against MIAA rivals) is scheduled to play three doubleheaders in the next five days. The Britons will complete the four-game series against Kalamazoo College with a road twinbill tomorrow and play four games against Hope College with Thursday and Friday doubleheaders.
