Baseball Britons drop MIAA games at Adrian

ADRIAN, Mich. – Jack Wyman produced another quality start for Albion College, yielding just four hits and a walk to 25th-ranked Adrian College in game one, but he didn't receive any run support as the Britons took a 1-0 loss.

Adrian completed the sweep with a 13-4 decision in game two.

The teams will complete the series with a 1 o'clock doubleheader at Albion's Champions Stadium

Game One

Wyman was locked in a pitcher's duel with Tommy Parsons, who shared the MIAA's Most Valuable Pitcher award a year ago.

The Britons managed six hits off Parsons, but they weren't able to distribute the hits throughout the lineup. Riley Steasiak and Jordyn Finney, the top two batters in the lineup, had two hits each.

Albion had its scoring chances:

  • Stesiak and Finney hit singles to start the game, but the scoring threat fizzled when Wyman grounded into a double play.
  • Kellan Huang led off the second inning with a triple to the right-center gap, but Parsons was able to come back by striking out the side.
  • Stesiak doubled with one-out in the third. The Britons had two runners in scoring position when Finney followed with a single (to advance Stesiak to third) and stole second. Parsons again came back with two strikeouts to get out of the jam.
  • Albion advanced a runner to third base with two out in the fifth. Matt Bur hit a leadoff single. He was sacrificed to second and advanced to third on a groundout. Parsons again wiggled out of the jam with a strikeout.

Adrian avoided having the game go to extra innings when Chad Paddock hit a two out single to score Gunner Rainey.

Game Two

Finney collected two more hits, including a double, and Wyman drove in two runs for the Britons.
