Baseball loses pair of games at Alma

ALMA, Mich. – Jack Wyman slugged a double and a homerun, but he was unable to get a shutdown inning on the mound in the fifth inning as Albion College took a 5-2 loss to Alma College in the first game of a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association baseball doubleheader at Klenk Park.

Alma completed the doubleheader sweep with a 20-3 victory in game two.

Wyman's first inning double pushed James Spilko across the plate.

Alma scored in the bottom half of the inning to forge a 1-1 tie.

The score remained tied until the fifth with Wyman hit a shot to center with two out.

Alma took the lead in the bottom half of the inning as Logan Huff hit a RBI double and Matt Minaudo singled to drive in two more runs.

Wyman's pitching line with five runs on six hits and three walks over 4.1 innings. Reliever Jon Hubanks allowed one hit in 1.2 innings.

Alma scored eight times in the first inning and never trailed in game two. Riley Stesiak and Kellan Huang finished with two hits each for Albion.

The teams will return to Albion's Champions Stadium for a 2 p.m. Monday doubleheader to complete the four-game series.
