Baseball Britons lose midweek game

ADRIAN, Mich. – Left fielder Kenny Frieswyk collected three hits and center fielder Riley Stesiak added two hits, including a double, in Albion College's 8-0 loss to Heidelberg College in non-league baseball action Wednesday afternoon.

Albion advanced a runner to third only once. Edward Gietzen drew a one-out walk in the fifth inning, advanced to second on a wild pitch and to third on Frieswyk's single. Gietzen was stranded when Cameron Doorweerd struck out and Frieswyk was caught stealing.

Jon Hubanks, Albion's starter on the mound, worked around an error with one out in the first.

AJ Sterling took the loss after being touched up for a run in the second.

Heidelberg scored twice in the third and fourth to lead, 5-0. The Student Princes tacked on the final three runs in the eighth. Justin DeWitt had two hits and five RBI.

Albion, 5-11 overall, begins a four-game Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association series with Alma College with a 2 p.m. Friday doubleheader at home.
