Baseball Britons drop Friday game

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – Albion College starter Mitch Shedlowsky was able to pitch out of a jam in the first inning, but he was unable to keep Suffolk University from scoring in the third.

Suffolk scored three in the third and added two more in the fourth as it took a 7-3 victory over Albion at Chain of Lakes Stadium.

Rich Giandrea provided the big at-bat with a two-run single in the third. Brady Chant slugged a RBI triple and scored on Rich Gilbride's sacrifice fly in the fourth.

Albion rallied, getting a RBI double from Joe Turnbull in the fifth and a leadoff homerun from Riley Stesiak in the sixth, to make the score 5-2.

Suffolk protected the lead with a pair of RBI singles in the seventh.

Albion finished the scoring in the eighth. Jack Wyman started the inning with a double, advanced to third on a passed ball and scored on Colton Rydlewski's sacrifice fly.

Turnbull collected three of Albion's 11 hits. Edward Gietzen and Wyman had two hits apiece.

Relief pitcher Tristan Ellis worked a scoreless eighth inning with two strikeouts.

Albion will complete its spring break trip to Florida Saturday morning when it meets St. Vincent at Lake Myrtle Park in Auburndale. First pitch is scheduled for 9 a.m.
