Quality start for Wyman on opening day

FRANKLIN, Mich. – Albion College went 0-for-10 with runners in scoring position in a 5-1 loss to Franklin College on opening day.

Jack Wyman gave Albion a quality start, yielding two runs over seven innings. He scattered six hits and issued just one walk.

Frank Podkul scored on a balk in the first inning and Nick Wright hit a home run to left field in the second.

Albion got a run back in the eighth. Riley Stesiak hit a one-out single and advanced to second on Jordyn Finney's walk. Stesiak scored when Colton Rydlewski reached on an error with two out.

Franklin tacked on three unearned runs in the 8th.

Stesiak and Finney finished the day with two hits apiece. Finney also drew a walk.

The Britons and Grizzlies return to McDowell Field tomorrow for a doubleheader to complete the three-game series. The first pitch is set for noon.
