Baseball Britons Lose Sunday Games

ALBION, Mich. – While the box scores report 8-0 and 7-2 losses, Albion College had its chances to take both games from Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rival Adrian College.

Albion (13-18 overall and 6-14 against MIAA rivals) will face Hope College in its next league series which begins with a 2 o'clock Thursday doubleheader in Holland, Mich.

Game One

Andrew Fabry threw four scoreless innings of relief before running into trouble in the sixth.

The Britons trailed 3-0 after the first and Fabry kept them within striking distance.

Adrian pitcher Jason Schroeder started by throwing two perfect innings, and Albion's first base runner was an infield single by James Spilko in the third. The Britons advanced a runner to second in the fifth and a runner to third in the seventh.

Ian Mikowski, Adrian's leadoff hitter, collected three hits and scored three runs. Ryan Dorow produced two hits and two runs batted in and Hunter Hayes drove in three runs.

Game Two

Ron Williams and Jordyn Finney drove in runs as Albion forged a 2-2 tie in the fifth.

TJ Bowers hit a double down the left field line with one out in the sixth, but the Britons were unable to score the go-ahead run.

Adrian struck for four runs – all with two out – in the seventh.

Albion loaded the bases with one out in the eighth – bringing the tying run to the plate – but the next two batters struck out.

Steven Scott, Albion's starting pitcher, was charged with three earned runs on eight hits and two walks.
