Bats Heat Up As Baseball Team Splits DH

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Albion College bats heated up on the warmest day of the year as the Britons split a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association baseball doubleheader at Calvin College.

The Britons collected a whopping 34 hits – batting .442 for the day – as it took a 12-10 loss in game one, but bounced back for a 10-4 win in game two.

Shane Lindemann went 6-for-9 Saturday. He also drew a pair of walks to raise his on base percentage to .727. He finished the four-game series against the Knights batting .500 (9-for-18).

Jack Wyman slugged a home run in each game and finished the day with three runs batted in.

Wyman, Ronnie Williams and Jordyn Finney collected five hits apiece on the day. Finney slugged a double and a triple and drove in four runs. Williams hit .600 (9-for-15) in the series against the Knights, and two walks raised his on base percentage to .647. Finney and James Spilko led the Britons with five RBI apiece in the series.

Game One

Albion collected a season-high 20 hits, but it left 11 runners on base.

The Britons scored five times in the fourth to cut the deficit to 10-8 and Spilko scored on a passed ball as they trailed 10-9 in the fifth.

Game Two

Steven Scott produced a quality start on the mound, yielding a run on five hits over six innings. He gave way to Wyman who struck out four over the final three innings.
