By Steven Marowski, '18

With solid pitching and help from Joe Turnbull and Jordyn Finney at the plate, Albion College swept a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association baseball doubleheader from Alma College by scores of 9-6 and 10-5 at Klenk Park.

The teams will complete the weekend series with a 1 o'clock Sunday doubleheader at Albion's Champions Stadium at Frank Joranko Field.

Game One

The Britons collected nine hits. Turnbull was 3 for 3 with two doubles, a stolen base and an RBI.

Finney led the offense with three RBI. Ronnie Williams and Riley Stesiak also had two hits apiece.

On the mound, Mitch Shedlowsky gave the offense a chance to battle. Though the Scots scored six runs, the only earned run came on a home run by Greg Goffee. Of his 77 pitches, 50 were strikes. Shedlowsky allowed a walk and struck out five to improve his record to 2-1 on the season.

Steven Scott came in to shut the door in the seventh, earning his second save of the season.

Game Two

Game two was much of the same from the Britonss. Turnbull, Shane Lindemann, Jack Wyman and Stesiak each collected two hits. Wyman also scored three runs, had an RBI and a double in the sixth inning. Ronnie Williams and Finney each had a hit as well.

First-year pitcher Scott Grant threw six innings, allowing five runs (three earned). Grant gave up just six hits while walking three and striking out four. He gave way to Andrew Fabry, who scattered three hits over two innings and got his first win of the season. Scott pitched the ninth inning to secure the victory.
