Britons Grind Out Monday Victory

AUBURNDALE, Fla. - Albion College scored 10 runs over the final four innings to stun Grove City (Pa.) College, 12-11 in 10 innings, during Monday spring break baseball action.

Logan Priebe, who hit a one-out single in the 10th, scored the winning run on Justin Green's double.

Joe Turnbull, who started the game at shortstop, pitched the final two innings to gain his first collegiate victory on the mound. He yielded a run in the ninth (Tyler Graham tripled and scored on a sacrifice fly), but he set the Wolverines down in order in the 10th.

"I'm proud of the way we competed all game," Head Coach Scott Carden said. "We grinded out at bats at the end of the game."

Trailing 9-2, Albion rallied for four runs in the seventh. Justin Dennis reached on an error at third base to lead off the inning and Jordyn Finney and Ronnie Williams drew walks to load the bases. Dennis scored on Mitch Lasceski's groundout to second base. Williams scored on a wild pitch. Finney and Turnbull scored on Priebe's double.

Justin Dennis slugged Albion's first homerun off the season in the eighth.

Turnbull followed with a homerun to lead off the ninth. Dennis drew a walk with the bases loaded to score Green. William's sacrifice fly drove in James Spilko. Shane Lindemann came across with the go-ahead run when he scored on a wild pitch.

Spilko collected three hits as Albion finished the game with 15. Dennis, Williams, Finney and Priebe all produced two hits apiece.

Albion, 2-2 on the young season, returns to Auburndale at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday against Wittenberg (Ohio) University.
