Bats Come Alive

ANGOLA, Ind. – Steven Marowski went 7 for 8 with two doubles and six runs batted in, Michael Fischbach went 6 for 8 with a RBI and Jack Wyman went 4 for 10 with a homerun and five RBI as Albion College split a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association baseball doubleheader at Trine University.

Game One: Trine 12, Albion 11

Albion squandered a 9-0 lead as Trine rallied for five runs in the fourth and four in the seventh. Drew Palmer hit a three-run homerun with two out in the seventh. Zach Seder and Kory Shackle followed with back-to-back singles and the winning run scored when Kevon O'Malley reached on an error.

Albion jumped on Trine starter Vinny Slobodecki as Ben Gehan and Marowski produced RBI singles, Ronnie Williams III was credited with a RBI when he reached on an error and Joe Turnbull drew a bases loaded walk in the first.

Wyman added a RBI in the second as the Briton chased Slobodecki from the game. Williams slugged a RBI double and Logan Priebe added a RBI single in the second.

Marowski collected two more RBI with a single in the third. He added a RBI double in the fifth.

Game Two; Albion 8, Trine 5

First-year pitcher Andrew Fabry pitched his first complete game, yielding 10 hits and a walk while striking out four.

Wyman hit a two-run homerun with two out in the fifth as Albion broke a 2-2 tie. Fischbach hit a RBI double and scored on a wild pitch in the seventh. Priebe scored on a wild pitch and Marowski drew a bases loaded walk in the eighth.

On Deck

Albion and Trine will complete the series with a 2 o'clock Friday doubleheader at Frank Joranko Field.
