Britons Fall To Hope, Mother Nature

ALBION, Mich. - Albion College and Hope College were unable to complete a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association baseball doubleheader on Saturday.

Hope was a 7-0 winner in game one as starting pitcher Austin Goodyke limited the Britons to two hits over six innings. Ryan Konkle produced three hits for the Flying Dutchmen, including a RBI double in the first and a two-run homerun in the fourth. Luke Brower slugged a two-run homerun in the first and Brady Vanderweele delivered a two-run double in the fourth.

Shane Lindemann and Michael Fischbach collected Albion's hits, both singles.

Steady rain forced the suspension of game two with Hope leading 5-4 as the Britons were batting in the third. Fischbach hit his seventh homerun of the season – a two-run shot – in the first inning and he added a RBI on a bases loaded walk in the second. Ben Gehan also drew a bases loaded walk in the second.

Michael Barnett and Vanderweele hit two-run singles for the Flying Dutchmen.
