Albion Hits Reset Button

ALBION, Mich. – Albion College defeated Olivet College 11-2 and 17-7 Monday in hitting the reset button after getting off to an 0-8 start against its Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association baseball rivals.

"We talked about today as Opening Day," Albion Head Coach Scott Carden said. "Nothing that has happened up to this point means anything. We had a long layoff, but I thought the guys came out with a good mindset."

Steven Marowski went 6-for-8, scoring six runs and driving in eight runs. Justin Dennis, Mitch Lasceski, and Shaqne Lindemann all collected four RBI and Jack Wyman drove in three runs in addition to pitching a complete game in game one.

Game One

Marowski collected a career-high RBI, hitting a three-run homerun to left in the first inning and adding a pair of RBI singles. Dennis added a two-run double in the fourth.

The run support allowed Wyman to gain his first win of the season on the mound. He allowed seven hits and two walks with four strikeouts.

"We rode Jack offensively and defensively today," Carden said. "I don't think we were competing well in our losses. That's the one thing Jack will do for us. He will compete."

Game Two

Albion scored seven times in the fourth to build a 12-0 lead.

Lindemann collected a career-high four RBI, hitting a two-run singles in the second and fourth. Wyman had a pair of RBI hits in the fourth and he lifted a sacrifice fly in the sixth.

Lasceski went 4-for-4 with a pair of walks and Lindemann and Marowski finished with three hits apiece.

Andrew Fabry pitched two scoreless innings of relief to get credit for the win, improving his record to 2-2.
