Britons Strand Winning Run

ALBION, Mich. – Jack Wyman's first career grand slam gave Albion College hope for a comeback Tuesday afternoon, but the Britons left the bases loaded in the eighth and the winning run on second base in the ninth in a 9-8 loss to Heidelberg University.

Trailing 9-1 in the seventh, Mitch Lasceski drew a one-out walk. Shane Lindemann singled and TJ Bowers walked to load the bases, setting the table for Wyman's second homerun of the season.

Michael Fischbach followed with a bunt single and Steven Marowski walked. Fischbach stole third base and scored on a throwing error by the catcher.

Albion loaded the bases with one out in the eighth. Lasceski hit a leadoff double and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Lindemann and Wyman walked to load the bases, but the Britons did not produce a clutch hit.

Justin Dennis drew a one-out walk in the ninth. Ronnie Williams III was hit by a pitch and Lasceski walked as the Britons loaded the bases. Lindemann drove in a run when he walked and Bowers drove in a run with a ground out to first base. The game ended when Wyman lined out to second base.

The Britons got quality pitching from relievers Steven Scott and Ben Gehan. Scott yielded a hit in 1.1 innings of work, while Gehan allowed a hit and a walk in 2.1 innings.

Albion begins a four-game series against Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rival Alma College with a 1 o'clock Saturday doubleheader at home.
