Fischbach Powers Albion To Spring Break Victory

AUBURNDALE, Fla. – Michael Fischbach slugged three extra-base hits to power Albion College to a 8-5 victory over Central (Iowa) College in spring break baseball action.

Albion scored five times in the fifth to erase a 4-0 deficit. The Britons collected only two hits in the inning – Justin Dennis and Shane Lindemann hit singles – as they drew three walks, had a batter hit by a pitch and one reach base on a wild pitch on a third strike.

Fischbach launched a two-run homerun to right-center in the sixth and he doubled and scored in the eighth.

Lindemann also collected three hits as the Britons finished with 10 on the day.

Matt Temrowski picked up the win on the mound. Making his first start of the season, he scattered four runs on six hits and two walks over five innings. Gunnar Owens and Jack Wyman each pitched a scoreless inning in relief.

"It was a good team win," Head Coach Scott Carden said. "A lot of guys made big contributions today. We were able to take advantage of some mistakes and overcame some bad bounces. I was really happy with the pitching performances."

Albion will visit Chain of Lakes Park in Winter Haven Tuesday for a 4 p.m. game against Waynesburg (Pa.) College.
